Our volunteer team plays a variety of key roles, with flexible hours and days to fit your schedule. Whether you’re assisting customers, moving furniture, or cleaning, processing, and organizing donations every task helps us to provide affordable housing for those in need.

ReStore Volunteer Opportunities

Individual Volunteering

Whether you’re organizing merchandise, assisting customers, or processing donations, your time directly contributes to raising funds for building affordable homes. Volunteers make a lasting impact on our operations and the families we serve.

Community Service

If you’re completing community service hours, the ReStore provides a productive and fulfilling way to meet your goals. Tasks like organizing inventory, cleaning, and helping customers allow you to give back while fulfilling your service requirements.

Group Volunteering

Group volunteering at the ReStore is a fantastic team-building opportunity for organizations, schools, or churches. Together, your group can sort donations, manage inventory, and assist shoppers while fostering camaraderie and supporting a vital cause.

General Volunteering

Volunteering outside of the ReStore offers a variety of ways to support our mission. Join us on the construction site to help build homes, or assist with administrative tasks that keep our programs running smoothly.

Our Restore Volunteers

    Mac

    Mac has been volunteering at the Staunton ReStore 3 years ago and you’ll see him working in the donation area processing new donations and helping customers. Mac has lived in Staunton / Augusta County his entire life! He was involved in international mission work for 18 years, helping to build houses in California and Mexico and installing water purification systems in Guatemala!

    Beth

    After retirement, Beth started volunteering at the Staunton ReStore and has been volunteering with us for three years. Beth has been living in the area her entire life and she enjoys seeing all of the old friends and new faces shopping at the ReStore.

    Anastasiya

    Meet the lovely Anastasiya! She is sweet, smart, and hardworking. She also has mad skills in computers, web design, graphics, and has volunteered to help us out in those areas. You will see her on Saturdays at the register volunteering her time to help us provide affordable housing in the area.

    Cindie

    Cindie has been volunteering her time at the Staunton ReStore for the past 3 years since we first opened. You will see her smiling face at the register where she helps our customers with their purchases!

    Donna

    Donna has been working hard at the Staunton ReStore for the past 2 years. You will find her organizing and stocking our book section, working at the register, or helping customers find what they are looking for. Her favorite things about the ReStore are the new and different items that come in and the variety of price points that make shopping here affordable for everyone!

    Mikayla

    Mikayla started volunteering with us in November 2024! You may see her friendly face at the register or in the back processing donations.

  • Verna

    Verna is retired and likes to volunteer and shop at the restore in her spare time! She loves the people she works with and talking to all the customers. She is an avid gardener and has two beautiful daughters! She does not like mornings so she volunteers in the afternoon!

  • Maria

    Maria has been volunteering for the SAW Habitat ReStore since the beginning of 2025! She also volunteers with the Verona Community Food Bank & H.E.L.P. in Churchville. Maria is an avid gardener and says she “loves gardening, but hates weeds”!

  • Groups from schools, churches, or organizations can schedule a volunteering day with us. Simply contact us to coordinate a date and project that works for your group.

  • Yes, we provide opportunities for individuals needing to complete community service hours. Contact us to discuss your requirements and available projects.

  • Volunteers may help with donation intake in our ReStore, supporting with administrative tasks, and we also accept volunteers outside of our ReStore. The tasks will depend on current needs and your skills.

  • To schedule a volunteer day or group event, reach out to us through our interest form or call our office. Our team will assist in setting up a meaningful and productive experience.

  • At the Staunton ReStore we have a flexible volunteer schedule where you can work specific days/hours that work for you or choose a non-scheduled option where you can volunteer a minimum of 2 hours whenever you have some free time to give.
