Packing Up For a New Beginning
For Bekky, the journey to homeownership has been filled with hope, patience, and emotion. After months of waiting and working toward this goal, she’s now preparing to open the door to her very own home.
Patience and Progress
“When I first started, it was so exciting,” Becky shared. “Then it slowed down, and I started to panic, not realizing how much work was happening behind the scenes.” Like many Habitat homeowners, Becky’s journey tested her patience. There were stretches when it felt like nothing was moving forward, but slowly she watched her house take shape. “When I walked in and saw the counters and the refrigerator, that’s when it became real,” she said. “It’s been like a dream.”
Packing Up and Moving Forward
As construction is nearing, Becky has started to pack her things. The process brought up old memories, including her parents, her late brother, and the house she’s lived in for 66 years.
“Packing was actually relaxing,” she said. “It helped me get through the waiting. Every box meant I was one step closer.” Leaving behind familiar neighbors and routines won’t be easy. “It’s going to be strange,” Becky said. “But I’m ready for a new start.”
A New Beginning
Becky’s new home represents stability after years of uncertainty. It’s a fresh start and a reminder of what can happen when people come together to help a neighbor.
“I hope everyone knows how much this means to me,” she said. “It’s true to my heart.”
We’d like to thank everyone who has made this journey possible for Bekky. Without the help of volunteers, generosity of donors, and support from the community, this wouldn’t be possible.
