On Thursday, March 13, 2026, the SAW Habitat for Humanity community gathered at the Wayne Theatre for the premiere of a heartfelt documentary following Bekky’s journey to homeownership. Sponsors, donors, volunteers, friends, and family came together to share in the moments that made her story so meaningful, honoring both her perseverance and the community that helped turn her dream into reality.

After months of waiting, packing, and holding on through uncertainty, Bekky is finally home. Walking through her front door for the first time, Bekky admits she once worried the house might not feel like home. That fear quickly faded as she settled into the space, and realized this place was truly hers. “I can’t believe this is mine,” she said.

Moving into a new home is a major milestone, but it also brings a long list of immediate needs. Even after construction is complete, homeowners are often faced with the cost of filling their home with basic necessities all at once. For families already working hard to build stability, those upfront expenses can add stress to what should be an exciting transition.

Every Habitat homeowner has a unique story, and for Bekky, her path to homeownership has been shaped by resilience and the steady support of her sister, Kelli. Support from family and close friends can give someone the courage to take the next step, and Kelli’s encouragement has been a major part of Bekky’s story.

For Bekky, the journey to homeownership has been filled with hope, patience, and emotion. After months of waiting and working toward this goal, she’s now preparing to open the door to her very own home.

The road to this point has taken time and effort. Bekky has invested sweat equity hours, completed financial education courses, and leaned on the encouragement of friends and our team. Looking back, she recognizes how this process has given her more than just a house. “Habitat saved my life. I was in a bad place before I met Jill,” she shared.
